How I Started Teaching Korean and Why I Love It

I’m Ju, a Korean language teacher from Seoul with over 14 years of experience teaching students from more than 20 countries. Whether you’re here to master Hangul, prepare for TOPIK, or just enjoy K-dramas without subtitles—I’m glad you stopped by.

My Journey into Korean Teaching

I didn’t always plan to become a Korean teacher. In fact, I started my career as a producer at a major K-entertainment company, working behind the scenes on shows and scripts. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for how language connects with culture—especially through K-dramas, K-pop, and real-world conversation.

Eventually, I realized I wanted something more personal and impactful. So I took a leap and started teaching Korean. I’ve never looked back.

What I’ve Learned from Teaching 14+ Years

Every student is different. Some learn best through grammar rules and structure; others through drama clips, pop lyrics, and casual chat. That’s why I always customize my lessons based on your goals—TOPIK prep, business Korean, daily conversation, or just being able to understand your favorite idols.

I’ve helped:

  • Students pass TOPIK I & II with confidence
  • Working professionals prep for Korean job interviews
  • Travelers and K-culture fans feel at home in Korea

Why I Started This Blog

This blog is where I’ll be sharing:

  • Learning tips and hacks
  • Free Korean language resources
  • My favorite phrases from K-dramas
  • Real stories from my students
  • And a little about my own life in and out of the classroom

Whether you’re a beginner just learning Hangul or a seasoned learner brushing up for the TOPIK, I hope you find something helpful here.
